	Penicillium Microscope prepared slide whole mount showing broom-like conidiosphores. This fungi is used to produce penicillin.		Spirogyra Microscope prepared slide whole mount of vegetative filaments with multiple chloroplast. Spirogyra is a genus of filamentous green algae of the order Zygnematales, and is named for the helical or spiral arrangement of the chloroplasts that is diagnostic of the genus.
	Chlamydomonas A genus of green alga, Chlamydomonas are unicellular flagellates. Learn more here.		Diatom This microscope slide is a whole mount of mixed fresh water diatoms. Diatoms are a major group of algae and one of the most common types of phytoplankton. View more images here.
	Moss This microscope slide is protonema moss, of germinating spores. Moss are small, soft plants that commonly grow together in clumps in damp or shaded locations. Moss do not have flowers or seeds and their simple leaves cover the thin wiry stems.		Mushroom Coprinus (mushrooms) cross-section of gills with basidia and spores. Mushrooms are the spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus.
	Aspergillus A genus consiting of several hundred mold species found in various climates worldwide. When first discovered in 1729 by an Italian Priest, while viewing the fungi under a microscope he was reminded of the shape of an aspergillum (holy water sprinkler) and named the genus accordingly.		Blue Green Algae Blue green algae is also known as Cyanobacteria and is a phylum of bacteria that obtain their energy through photosynthesis. Learn more here.
